There are lots of factors to consider when deciding whether or not to upgrade your boiler. If your old boiler is broken or dangerous it may well be possible to repair it. Boilers, like old cars, can reach the point when it makes more financial sense to replace it rather than to continue making repairs, especially as a new boiler is likely to save you from having to worry about the chance of it failing in the middle of winter when you need it most.
It is true to say that a new boiler is likely to be significantly more efficient than an old model and could potentially shave 30% off your gas bill.

Process
I will visit your property for about half an hour to look at siting within your property. The position of the flue is vital, ease of connection to your heating pipework, sufficient gas supply pressure and a reliable means of condense extraction.
The cheapest option is always to choose a modern boiler that is as close to your old one in size and heat output and to site it in the same space. If you are planning an extension or loft conversion you may want a more powerful boiler and that may require the gas supply pipes to be upgraded. There are a range of options with respect to warranties depending on the model you choose and how much you are prepare to pay.
If space is at a premium you may want to relocate the boiler to your loft, this will require much more pipework but by freeing up space may improve your living experience. A combi boiler can be used to replace your old boiler, your cold water storage tank and your hot water cylinder. It will free up a lot of space in your home and give you mains pressure water from all of your taps, including your hot water taps. Most people will enjoy hotter more powerful showers. If, however, you have more than two bathrooms there are other options that may suit your requirements better.
I will assess the condition of your radiators and heating controls to ensure they are efficient and in satisfactory condition.
I will discuss all your options during the visit and prepare a quotation that best suits your needs and preferences. I don't have an affiliation to any specific brand, I am familiar with most brands and base the choice on your own preferences and what I think is most suitable to your specific requirements.
Choose location of boiler within your home and power output.
Advise you on the most appropriate type of boiler for your needs.
Provide options on manufacturers and warranty terms.
Assess the heating pipework, ancillaries and radiators. Your controls, thermostat and radiator valves.
I can supply and fit a premium quality boiler from as little as £1,500 if I judge the installation to be fairly straightforward. Obviously complex installation or significantly modified systems will be more involved and more expensive.
In the case of a simple boiler swap, most of the work can usually be done in one (longish) day. If there are extensive modifications or a combi conversion it is likely to be a two day job.
Following completion there is paperwork to complete in order to activate the warranty and to meet Building Regulations. I will prepare all the paperwork for you: complete the "commissioning checksheet", register the boiler with Gas Safe and your local council.
Testimonial:
Our back boiler was rather old, with very limited capacity. James quoted reasonable prices and fully installed a brand new boiler system with remote thermostat in our home. A lot of work was involved, all done to a very high standard. Our new heating is 100 times better + much more efficient all round, just in time for winter arriving.
He's friendly, trustworthy, so knowledgeable, has close attention to detail & cleans up before he leaves. Wonderful attributes for a tradesman.
Definitely highly recommend James to anyone in Horsham + West Sussex.
